Studaverse is a community for Ottawa students. These Guidelines keep it safe, useful, and respectful. Breaking them can get your content removed and your account suspended or banned.
1. Be Respectful
Treat other students the way you'd want to be treated. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic. No personal attacks.
2. Be Real
Use your real identity. Don't impersonate other people, create fake accounts, or misrepresent who you are. Studaverse is for enrolled students — keep it that way.
3. Don't Scam or Deceive
No fraud, no scams, no fake listings, no bait-and-switch. Describe items and services honestly. Don't take money or goods without delivering what you promised. Trying to defraud another student will get you banned and may be reported.
4. Prohibited Items and Services
Do not post, sell, offer, or trade:
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives
- Illegal drugs, cannabis, or drug paraphernalia
- Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, or nicotine products
- Prescription medication or controlled substances
- Stolen goods or counterfeit/replica items
- Anything that infringes someone's intellectual property
- Adult/sexual content or services
- Live animals
- Academic dishonesty services — writing essays or assignments for others, taking exams/quizzes, or any service that helps someone cheat. This is a student platform; we don't facilitate academic misconduct.
- Anything illegal, or anything you're not legally allowed to sell.
5. Transact and Meet Safely
When you deal with another student:
- Meet in public, busy places (campus, coffee shops) — not private residences or isolated spots.
- Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Inspect items before paying. Be cautious with any payment method you can't reverse.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, walk away.
Remember: Studaverse connects students, but we're not part of your transaction and we're not there in person. Your safety when meeting others is your responsibility.
6. Keep It Clean
No spam, no mass-posting the same thing, no misleading titles, no links to malware or scams. Don't flood the community or game the system.
7. Respect Privacy
Don't share other people's personal information without their consent. Don't collect, scrape, or misuse other users' data. What's shared in a private message stays private.
8. Post in the Right Place
Use the right section — listings in Marketplace, jobs in Work, events in Events, questions in Community. Keep content relevant to Ottawa students.
9. Reporting
If you see something that breaks these Guidelines — a scam, harassment, a prohibited item, a fake account — report it using the in-app report feature. We review reports and take action. Reporting helps keep the community safe for everyone.
10. Consequences
Depending on the severity, breaking these Guidelines can result in:
- A warning
- Removal of the content
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent ban from Studaverse
- In serious cases (fraud, threats, illegal activity), referral to the relevant authorities.
We apply these at our discretion to protect the community.
